Hello Alcoa Swim & Dive Family,

What a great meet today! Our swimmers showed up and got some great experience. We are so proud of everyone. Some notes of interest below:

• Everyone was on the blocks for their events! This is so important and also very impressive for the 1st meet.
• 82% of our high school swimmers dropped time in their events!
• 69% of our middle school swimmers dropped time in their events!
• Some special shout outs go to Coach Ethan, Carson, Coach Adrienne, Coach Hana, and all of our parent volunteers!
• Please note that some of the volunteers you saw for Alcoa today were parents of swimmers who were not swimming or friends of the team. We will have to fill volunteer positions for the upcoming meet with parents of participating swimmers as the meet can’t start until all those spots are filled. Please reach out if you have any questions and we can’t wait to see others on deck.
• We have our second meet on Wednesday, November 12th. This meet will be hosted by Jefferson County and we will have to travel to Carson Newman. The pool is located in the Maddox Student Activity Center, Branner Avenue, Carson-Newman University, Jefferson City, TN 37760.

  • We have several volunteer positions available that need to be filled by parents. If your swimmer is entered in the meet, please sign up for a shift through the Swimtopia app. See the instructional text here for details on Swimtopia. We can’t start the meet until all positions are filled. Most of the available positions do not require extensive training. Descriptions of volunteer positions can be found on the “Swimming 101” portion of the website.
  • We will share more information about the meet when we receive it from the host team.
  • We have a “What to Expect” document on the Meets portion of our website here. Please review this document and be prepared for meets.
  • For this meet please wear a black swim suit if possible. We hope we get our team suits very soon. The only suits you cannot wear are suits with zippers, ties, or that have the logo of another team.

• Our team Merch Store is still open! The date was extended to tomorrow, November 3 at 10 AM. Visit the store here. We will deliver the items to your swimmer at school or at practice.

Congratulations to Coach Ethan Scruggs for being our ACE of the Week! Coach Ethan has been so important to the development of our middle school and high school swimmers already this season. He takes time to work with every swimmer on areas that need improvement. He is patient, kind, and always ready to help. Thank you to Coach Ethan!
