Alcoa Swim & Dive-Week 2 Update

Hello Alcoa Swim & Dive Family,

Our first week of practice is done! Please make sure you continue to RSVP through our Heja app  for practices as this really helps our coaches plan for how to best utilize our lane space. We are thankful for your patience as we try to settle on schedules that work for everyone with the amount of space and time that we have available. As always, please make sure you read through to the end of this email as it contains important information for the upcoming week.

Here are the important things to know for this week!

  • Deadline for swimsuit orders is tonight! If you have not already done so, please fill out the google form with your order HERE. Payment can be made at a later date by cash or check to Alcoa Swim & Dive. Team suits are optional, but recommended.
  • Event and Job RSVP for the Blount Co Intersquad Meet on November 2nd is now open! While RSVPs for practices can be made through the Heja app, we ask that you RSVP for all meets and volunteer positions through our website HERE. Our website links directly to the host team, so RSVP and job/event entries must be done through SwimTopia. Please let us know if you experience any issues accessing either platform (Heja used for practices; Swimtopia is used for meet RSVP’s and volunteer sign ups). If you have any questions about this process, please email our coaches at [email protected] and we will work through it with you!
  • Reminder that next week there is NO PRACTICE on Thursday October 30th due to the AHS Trunk or Treat Event or Friday October 31st due to Halloween. We will have an optional practice on Saturday, November 1st from 11am-12pm to work on some last minute skills before our first meet on Sunday, November 2nd.
  • Deadline for Sponsors is November 1st, 2025. Any sponsorships accepted after this deadline will be accepted, but logos will not be able to be printed on shirts and the team banner for this season.
  • Reminder that if you would like to become a certified Stroke & Turn Judge to please reach out to Nick Hall at [email protected]. You can alternatively take the free “Officiating Swimming and Diving” course at www.nfhslearn.com to learn more about how to become a Stroke & Turn Judge.

Lastly- congratulations to Cora Ruyack for being our ACE of the Week! Cora showed up to practice with a great attitude every day she was able to attend and made some huge progress working with Coach Ethan and really listening to his instructions. Great work Cora!

Remember- we are not just learning to be better swimmers, but great teammates and disciplined athletes through showing a positive ATTITUDE, attending practice with CONSISTENCY, and giving maximum EFFORT in all that we do!

Get ready for another great week of moving forward, Tornadoes!
