Weekly Update- September 23

Good evening Tornadoes,
Registration is now closed and we are excited to send you an official welcome to Alcoa Swim and Dive Team! It's our first weekly email of the 2026-2027 season and you should expect to receive an email every Sunday evening in preparation for the upcoming week. This will be our main source of communication and information, so be on the lookout for these emails and VIP this address so our messages do not get lost. Our roster will be submitted and has been announced on social media. Here is what you need to know!
- Our first practice is on Monday, October 12, at Green Meadow Country Club Pool from 7:45 PM to 8:45 PM. We will not have morning practice on October 12th since there is no school.We only have one lane during this Monday evening practice time so the first practice will be an introduction. It will be a good time to come by and familiarize yourself with the pool, bring payment for car wash tickets, and get in in small groups so we can assess skill sets and goals.
- Our goal this season is to get the most pool-time for each swimmer but that will be a work in progress for the first few weeks as we settle into the schedule and work to serve each swimmer.
- Please note that swimmers will not be required to attend every practice and we can work together to build a schedule that works well for each individual swimmer.
- We will be using the HEJA App to help us with this. Please download the app here and use our team code (GE-233822) to join our team on the app prior to October 12th.
- For the 2026-2027 Season Alcoa City Schools is partnering with "Heathy Roster" to provide pertinent health information to coaches and admin quickly should your child need medical care in an emergency. You will be receiving an email to setup a Healthy Roster account. Please complete all information required. Download the "Healthy Roster" app to set up and account and provide this information. Parent Directions can be found here. Please mark that you allow the information to be shared so that coaches can view athlete information. This information will have to be complete before you can get in the pool at practice or swim in meets.
- For all practices, plan to be on time or early so we can get in the water at the on time and make the most of our practice. Arrive early enough to have time to change, use the restroom, fill water bottles, and stretch prior to practice. This year we will have a 5 minute Tardy policy and any swimmer arriving to the pool deck later than 7:05 will not be allowed to practice due to not being able to warm up properly with the team. Parents, also please plan to pick up your child on time when practice is finished. Swimmers must wait in the lobby with supervision until all are picked up. Parents may also observe practice if you would like, but know that space is limited and the interior of the pool can be “drippy.”
- The address for the pool is 1700 Louisville Rd, Alcoa, TN 37701. The pool is located at the end of the drive on the right. Please bring swim trunks or suit, towel, fins, and goggles to the first practice. Goggles and fins can be found on Swim Outlet or Amazon. A few examples are linked below but please choose what you like.
- You can sign up for car wash tickets here. Please commit to the number you wish to purchase, bring the money to practice, and we will get those ordered and delivered as soon as possible. You are welcome to drop off a check or cash to either the middle school or high school front office. If you write a check, please make sure you write it to Alcoa Swim and Dive.
- We will continue to actively fundraise. Thank you to all who have already secured community sponsors! We will begin to announce our team sponsors at the start of the season, so make sure to have your sponsors send in their completed forms and logos soon. Now that you are a registered member you can access all forms you need for the season under the "Team Only" portion of the website, including our Sponsorship Letter.
- Please check our swim meet schedule and plan ahead to attend as many meets as possible, especially the Ray Bussard Invitational and City Meet Championships. In addition to meets we will plan to participate in the AHS Trunk of Treat again on Oct 30th at the High School. Our team captains will be determining a group costume if you would like to participate. This is an optional social event to support our community! Lastly, we are planning a media day for our team pictures. Information about this will be TBD based on our merchandise orders for the season and we'll plan something as soon as we are able!
