Ray Bussard Invitational and Ethan's Signing Information

Good Evening Alcoa Swim & Dive Families,

In this email you will find all of the information you need for Ray Bussard Invitational. Please refer here or to our website HERE for all of the details you need to be prepared for the meet Saturday!

Additionally, we want to share with you that our very own Ethan Scruggs has committed to and will officially sign with Quincy University tomorrow afternoon! Congratulations Ethan! Any of our swimmers or divers or families are welcome to support him and attend. If you do plan to attend, please RSVP on the Heja app and arrive at Clayton Bradley Academy no later than 2:45 Friday for the 3 PM ceremony.

We have received our workers assignments for Saturday and thankfully it is only one position for one half of a shift. If you would like to be a timer from 3:45 PM until the end of the high school meet on the Girl’s Pool during the HS session, please sign up through the event on Swimtopia. You will need to check in at the Worker’s Table and attend the Worker’s Meeting at 2:10 PM. We ask that this role be filled with an experienced timer.

Here is what you need to know!

  • Middle Schoolers should arrive by 9:30 AM. We will begin stretching at 10:00 and our warmup is at 10:25 AM. The meet will begin at 11 AM
  • High Schoolers arrive by 1:15 PM. We will begin stretching at 1:45 PM and our warmup is at 2:05 PM.
  • Please come prepared with warm clothing (socks, hats, layers), blankets or camp chairs, and properly fueled for your session. We will have some drinks and snacks, but items like applesauce, crackers, pretzels, and sports drinks are always a good idea to have on hand.
  • Uniform will be either our team suit or plain suit with no other logos. Technical suits ARE okay for our High School swimmers only. Suits with tie-backs, zippers, (or technical suits with carbon fabric/bonded seams for Middle School swimmers) will result in disqualification.
  • We will provide your swimmer with our team t-shirt tonight or try to get them to you at school tomorrow if you will not be in attendance this evening.
  • Please be aware that parking may not be easy. It turns out Parking will NOT be available in the garage across from the pool. It might be a good idea to download the ParkMobile app prior to arrival and look for ParkMobile pay-by-the-hour parking spots on Volunteer Blvd or at the very top of the garage across from the pool. Be aware that you should not park in designated UT student or staff parking areas.
  • Again- all documents, including a timeline, event list, and heat sheets are posted both to our Meet Info page on the website or to the official Ray Bussard web page HERE.

Remind your swimmers of their “homework” and let’s have a great meet full of fast swims on Saturday! They have worked hard and made great improvements-time to show it off!

If you have any questions, please reach out via text message or through the Heja app!

Thanks,

Coach Hana and Coach Selena
