Hello Alcoa Swim & Dive Family,

Another amazing week of swim practice is under our belts and we are excited for all the progress our swimmers have made in the water! This is a lot of information, so please make sure to read to the end.

• We have our first swim meet on Sunday, November 2. We have a “What to Expect” document on the Meets portion of our website here. Please review this document and be prepared for meets. We need all swimmers at National Fitness at 2 PM on Sunday. The address for National Fitness is 1644 W Broadway Ave, Maryville, TN 37801. All meet info is here. For this meet, please wear any suit that you would like to wear (ideally plain or black.) The only suits you cannot wear are suits with zippers, ties, or that have the logo of another team. (Please note that you should not use the main entrance to NFC gym, but the doors to the left that enter directly into the pool area.)

• Our year round or USA swimmers will not be participating in this meet but many will be on deck to help their teammates and cheer on swimmers during their races.

• We have several volunteer positions available that need to be filled by parents. If your swimmer is entered in the meet, please sign up for a shift through the Swimtopia app. See the instructional text here for details on how to sign up through Swimtopia. We can’t start the meet until all positions are filled. Most of the available positions do not require extensive training. Descriptions of volunteer positions can be found on the “Swimming 101” portion of the website.
• Coach Hana will be the referee and starter for the meet. Once the meet starts, she can not coach the swimmers or talk to them about their swims. We will remind the kids of this but wanted to make sure parents were aware as well.

• We are participating in the Trunk or Treat event at AHS on Thursday, October 30. All swimmers are welcome to participate but we need to get RSVP’s as soon as possible. Please RSVP for this event just like practices on the Heja app. We will be securing our costumes on Tuesday. The theme is lifeguards again this year so hopefully some swimmers have their costumes from last year. If you can, please bring a bag of candy to hand out. All swimmers should arrive at the high school by 5:40 PM on Thursday.

• No practice on Halloween! We will have practice on Saturday at 11 AM at Green Meadow. This is a great opportunity for a shake out and to fine-tune details before our meet on Sunday. Please RSVP on the Heja app.

• Our team Merch Store is open! Please order any gear you want soon as the store closes at 10 AM on Sunday, November 2, the same day as our first meet. Visit the store here. We will deliver the items to your swimmer at school or at practice.

Lastly, congratulations to middle schooler Nathanael Ward for being our ACE of the Week! Even though Nathanael is new to the sport of swimming, he is brave and accomplishing new things at every practice. Great job at being coachable, Nathanael!
