Official Week 1 Weekly Update
Good Evening Alcoa Swim & Dive Family,
The day is finally here! We are excited to start the season with our first practice tomorrow. Here is what you need to know for this week:
- Practice will be from 7-8 tomorrow, but please arrive fairly early to make sure you have all paperwork squared away.Coaches will be there starting at 6:15 and we will have extra forms available. Reminder-we are not able to let athletes practice if they do not have a physical on file.
- Our Heja App account is now active! If you have not already downloaded the app, please do so as soon as possible. You should now be able to see and RSVP for practices through the app. We hope that this will help us make the most of our practice time and lane space. Make sure to RSVP for every practice by 3pm of the day of so we know who will be in attendance.
- We will have a set of team suits this week to try on for sizing and will be organizing orders this week. Team Suits are not required, but highly encouraged. For all other last minute equipment needs please use our SwimOutlet store. We receive a portion of every purchase back in store credit.
- We have about 75 additional carwash tickets to sell. These are good at any Tidal Wave location. If you or friends/family would like any additional to sell, please let Coach Selena know.
- Keep working on Team Sponsorships and thank you to those of you who have already submitted your sponsor forms! Printable forms can be found on our website HERE.
- We are working on a Team Merch store so look for that information soon. This will be the place to get your Alcoa Swim and Dive gear to wear at meets or whenever you want to support our team.
- Parents- we would love to have additional parents as Stroke & Turn Judges. This is the easiest “certified” role and it is now more simple than ever to become an official:
- Email Nick Hall at [email protected] and let him know you would like to become a S&T Judge for Alcoa. He will get you set up with an online training on www.strokeandturn.com This is a free course and you will become a KISL Certified S&T Judge.
- Additionally you can take the free course offered by NFHS. Sign up for an account and then search for the “Officiating Swimming & Diving” course. (This is not officially sanctioned by KISL, but many times when no officials are available we would rather have someone who has this certification than none at all-so TISCA has suggested for as many parents as possible to take this free training.)
Both of these are great ways to educate yourself about the sport as well, so we definitely suggest taking a few minutes and completing one of these courses!
Important Upcoming Dates:
October 30th- No Practice. Halloween Trunk or Treat at the HS. More information from our Team Captains will be forthcoming
October 31st- Practice Cancelled/Halloween
November 2nd- Annual Intersquad Practice Meet. RSVPs are now open on our website! All swimmers, especially those who have never competed in a meet before, should plan to attend this super laid-back, introductory meet. All RSVPs for swim meets should be done through the website or the Swimtopia App.
See you all (yay) tomorrow!
